2012 Golf Trips: By the Numbers

2012 was a record-setting year for as we surpassed 10,000 registered users! As the year draws to a close, we have compiled statistics from the 400+ golf trips that used GolfTripGenius on their group golf getaways, to help answer the age old questions: "What's the most popular size for a golf trip?" "How many rounds should be played on a golf trip?" And, "What tournaments should we play on a golf trip?" Here's the breakdown by the numbers:

The most popular group size in 2012 was 8 golfers. The most popular group size in 2011 was 12.

-The largest single trip was 40 golfers! Hats off to that trip Captain for their bravery.

How about the number of rounds of golf played on a golf trip?

    -4 rounds: 23%
    -5 rounds: 22%
    -6 rounds: 17%


The two most popular trip destinations were Myrtle Beach and Pinehurst. 32% of our customers traveled to Myrtle Beach and 15% ventured to Pinehurst.

Side note: Combined, Scotland and Ireland accounted for 27% of GolfTripGenius trips. Bandon Dunes and Florida round out the top destinations with 14% and 13%, respectively.


What's a golf trip without some friendly competition? Here's the breakdown of how golfers chose to compete:

Match and Stroke play tournaments were played the most, being incorporate on 39% and 23% of all trips, respectively. Stableford following closely behind at 22%. With the powerful and easy-to-use Ryder Cup capability in, Ryder Cups accounted for 13% of competions played.
